Snowy Mountains - Perisher

New World class mountain and village facilities will take advantage of the geographic and topographic location of Perisher Blue that virtually guarantees that it receives more snow, over a larger area.
Implementation of the Ski Slope Master Plan will ensure the efficient integration of the original four separate resorts through the modernisation of lifting, an extensive snowmaking system to take skiers from one corner of the resort to the other, under all conditions; and strategically placed on-mountain restaurant facilities enhance and improve visitor amenity and experience.
The 2003 winter season ushered in the commencement of the Ski Slope Master Plan with the opening of the Village 8 Express high speed detaching chairlift, the first in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2004 winter season will see snowmaking top to bottom on Exelerator on the Ridge Chairlift at Blue Cow, a new Superpipe and many other exciting developments.

The Perisher Village

For the vision to be realised, the resort will have a heart, the Perisher Village, a mountain village providing a range of entertainment and active and passive activities. A purposeful creation of a range of pleasurable activities that balance recreational, educational, retail and entertainment opportunities.
The Village will significantly define the substance, style and character of the resort, giving it a unique presence that will become a large part of why visitors return, year after year.
The design and functionality of the Village will be of the highest standard so that a long term ambience, quality of experience and an ease of operation is realised, so that it retains visitor appeal and remains environmentally, socially and economically viable for generations.
The Village will distinguish itself from all others, yet it will honour and reflect its distinctive history, and its Indigenous and European cultural heritage.
Perisher Blue recently received Government approval of the Perisher Detailed Village Design Plan(DVDP) and will lodge a Master Plan Development Application for the Village Centre in early 2004 with construction planned to commence in late 2005 subject to associated agreements with Government being settled.
The DVDP has been recently recognised by the NSW Division of the Planning Institute of Australia with an Award for Excellence in Planning in the 'Urban Design - Plans and Ideas' category.
