Thredbo quite amazing on the Australia day weekend. Riverside Cabins the best. So compact and nifty with absolutely everything you need. everything works is clean neat, warm and very clever layout affording a very comfortable weekend. The view is great and the location of these cabins is the best in Thredbo. The sun pours in and the view is fantastic. Will defintley return and ask for Riverside again.

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of March in a one bedroom cabin with loft. The cabins are not overly spacious but ours was well equipped and very comfortable. We have two children aged 9 and 13, they shared the loft and we found that upstairs space was bigger than we had expected. They enjoyed it very much. These cabins are set along in a couple of long narrow rows near the river, ours was on the lower rank right near the small river and it was very pretty hearing the river rushing along. It is a bit of a hike in with a trolley and down a long rocky set of steps, so not suitable for anyone afraid of carrying their bags for a short walk. It sounds like we were in a very similar cabin to MudgeeJo who has posted another review. We also bought a recreation pass for the weekend as part of the package and had a great time on the bobsled, chairlift and at the pool. There were a couple of minor flaws with our cabin - the TV in our bedroom couldn't pick up any channels, and the DVD player in the main living area was jammed. We were having way too much fun to worry too much about those problems, so we just reported them to reception on the way out. For instance, we were much happier sitting on the daybed reading while looking out over the river, enjoying the afternoon sunshine, to worry much about playing a DVD. There is a small but pleasant balcony with a BBQ and table with chairs, so this worked really well for us as a location to enjoy Thredbo's outdoor activities, but it was nice just to spend time at the cabin too.

We stayed at the riverside cabins in August 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed every part! Rooms: rooms were a good size with a queen bed in the upstairs loft and a gold out lounge in the sitting area. Bed was comftable, clean & well made. Furniture downstairs could use a refurb. Bathroom: was pretty small with only a shower, but did have drying space and well you don't expect a huge bathroom when you see the size of the place it's all very compact. Facilities: Old style box TV, Mini fridge, dated cooker to which we barley used any of. The stove top not once. Having said this if you wanted home cooked meals every night the facilities are there but wouldn't rate them highly.. Location: Ok so the cabins are away from the village probably a five-ten minute slow walk but you can practically get the shuttle right outside the door to all the amenities. With a natural creek right outside your window and plenty of room to build snow men for the kids (& big kids) it's picturesque and peaceful. You seldom find the young & rowdy crown up the cabin side they tend to stick right in the village, closer to the pub? Haha Overall: we loved out stay! we got our trip from thredbo online and scored a half price week as a family had cancelled so the price was adequate having said this paying full price I would have been mildly disappointed. Not a cheap holiday unless your into again the home cooked meals & no skiing. For 1 day skiing with my son it was about $600 including ski hire lift passes & 1 lesson so come with a loaded wallet, but this is anywhere in the village not just riverside. Would recommend & certainly advise to look around for deals.

Great little place to stay & reasonable in price. Close to the village & lifts with no big hills to climb after a day snowboarding. Only issue is that some rooms still have ladders to get up to the loft (others have stairs) which can be a little tricky when you have jelly legs after a full day of boarding! Apart from that very small issue, the place was great.
